S01E32 Normally, I summarise the previous session here in the notes but John, our GM, does this after a short chat about the weather so a quick summary then: Dwimmerhorn has been scouted and the presence of an ancient evil artefact has been discovered, the party had to escape and are now making their way back to Mountain Hall to tell Lord Hartfast of their discovery.

S01E31 With Byrgol's help the imposing Dwimmerhorn was found. Much more than a tower it was a collection of several stone buildings atop a steep hill. Clambering up an old goat track, Sigmarr was able to make some initial observations and report back. This threat was too much for Amalfrida who left during the night to warn and help defend her people. Fortunately, a Dunadan ranger called Arahad was also in the area and pledged to help the companions explore the orc filled complex. Following the same path the next morning, the whole group got as far as the walls which everyone except Monin climbed over. Scouting the various buildings all went well until Sigmarr looked inside the temple. Making plans within were a large orc, human and, lying on the floor between them, an ancient withered black robed corpse, with pale skin drawn tight over bones, its unmoving head featureless but for a gleam in its eye-sockets. Also in the temple, was a Coffin-sized casket reinforced with iron bands, displaying an oversized length of chain, each black metal link the size of a human head. The luminescence seems to radiate from the chain itself and most likely the source of the green glow observed on previous nights. A sixth sense Sigmarr didn't know he possessed saves him from detection as he ducks out of sight as the spirit-eyes turn to the upper window, and he and Arahad retreat behind the keep walls. Seconds later, as they are whispering their plans to escape the Dwimmerhorn, a shadowy figure that Hathus recognises as the spirit Irimë spent a long night battling last year slithers around the corner of the keep towards them. The spirit hisses a word in the Black Speech of Mordor, then vanishes. A moment later, the Orc-horns blow...

S01E30 On the way back to Mountain hall, the party had to defeat a terrifying Hill Troll. Its lair yielded a nice bag of gold which lifted the companions' spirits. Once at the hold in the mountains, they told Hartfast of Magric's betrayal, Wellar's rescue, Byrgol's aims and that the threat from the Dwimmerhorn was real according to the rescued man. Hartfast would need time to assemble a force to contend with the evil base so asked the party to once again return and find out more about what threat they all faced. They were introduced to a chipper representative of Radagast called Banna who was asked to deliver an update back to the brown wizard. Rested and resupplied, the fellowship headed south with a boat and a small contingent from Mountain Hall, crossed back over the Gladden and with Byrgol's help have now found the imposing Dwimmerhorn, a stone fortress atop a hill. One of the larger building occasionally flickers, lit within by a sickly green light.

S01E29 Previously on: Walar, the slave from the Dwimmerhorn, spoke of the many orcs, wargs and slaves at the evil fortress. With this information the party withdrew northwards to the Gladden to rendezvous with their water transport, manned by two fishermen. They never showed so could be assumed to have been waylaid by orcs. As the adventurers waited they met a hobbit, Byrgol, the last of his community that once thrived in the area. He vowed to one day to resettle the Gladden Fields so his people could prosper once again. The fellowship convinced him and Walar to accompany then north to Mountain Hall but have stopped at Trader's Island first to restock. It is now time to leave.

S01E28 Previously on: The fellowship have been searching the marshes of the Gladden fields for a dark fortress, the Dwimmerhorn. It was briefly sighted through the mists but was quickly lost again. Trudging through the mud towards the estimated position, the group stumbled into a group of orcs and wolves, led by a Great Orc, who were chasing a man. The party's guide, Magric, betrayed them by warning the evil band of the ambush waiting for them, then fled into the marsh. Battle was joined. Once the Wargs were slain, the orcs, clearly suffering in the sunshine, were no match for the seasoned adventurers, only the Great Orc posing much of a problem before he too fell. The man has been saved, so what's his story?

S01E27 Squelching along upon the Gladden fields, the fellowship have gone in search of a dark tower, the Dwimmerhorn, trying to ascertain if it exists, its purpose and its master. They were rewarded with the sight of some sort of structure in the distance but, like the gold at the end of a rainbow, could not close the distance until the vision was lost in the mists. Following their instincts, the companions pressed on but were halted by cries of alarm ahead. A manacled desperate man, emerged from the bushes, hotly pursued by orcs and wolves, a fearsome black orc leading them. Before the party could spring their ambush, their guide, Magric, bolted from them, crying out to warn the enemy. We join them just as the battle has started.

S01E26 Orcs had been sneaking around Mountain hall but the locals had quickly chased them off though not before a watchman had been assaulted then thrown off the cliff edge. Lucky for him, he had been spotted on a ledge by Sigmarr who organised his rescue. Hathus expertly healed him, saving his life. Hartfast, the leader of Mountain Hall, showed his thanks by making the companions, "Friends of the Berg" and a small celebration was held in their honour. Leaving Mountain Hall, resolved to ultimately check out the dark fortress, Dwimmerhorn, in the Gladden Fields the fellowship made for Trader's Island, an ideal setting off point. The journey was largely uneventful and we join the party as they arrive on the Island.

S01E25 Arriving at Mountain Hall tired, Hathus exhausted even, the newcomers are disarmed but allowed through. Before meeting with Hartfast, head of the House of the Mountain Hall, the companions buy various items from the well stocked trading post. During the audience with an initially suspicious Hartfast, he eventually opens up to tell the fellowship of something afoot down south in the Gladden fields, around an old fort made by evil folk called the Dwimmerhorn. Of more concern to him, however, is the sound of goblin miners deep below the hold. They could break through to his own mines within months and asks Monin to check over the mines and report back in a few days. Dismissed, the party amble to the hall where they partake in good food and drink before retiring for the night, satisfied. The party are awoken in the middle of the night by shouts of alarm. We join them as Amalfrida has just looked outside the lodgings into the dark of night to try to spot the cause of the disturbance.

S01E24 A job well done, the fellowship took a break for a few months. Amalfrida decided to spend time with her people back at Beorn's Hall. Hathus and Monin travelled south to Rhosgobel opening it up as a sanctuary. While there, Monin's despair lessened but Sigmarr, back at Woodland Hall, was unable to shake the grip of dark foreboding from his experience in Irimë's harrowing dream. Hearing reports of shadow, Radagast tasked the party to head north to Hartfast of Mountain Hall. This woodman leader should know of any evil doings in the area. Gaining gifts from the brown wizard, the fellowship headed back into the wilderness where they were set upon by wolves. Victorious, the friends continued their journey.

S01E23 Continuing their escort of Irimë, the companions found themselves once again at the place where they had fought the Night-Wight. During the night, a foul shadow descended upon the camp forcing everyone into a vivid shared dream. This vision took the companions on a journey of despair with first, the fall of a town to treachery and finally, to enslavement of the survivors where they rotted in cells under the Hill of Sorcery. Eventually, the combined will of Irimë and the party vanquished the shade's hellish nightmare. The fellowship awoke as the wight fled before the break of dawn and the arrival of the sons of Elrond. The companions had succeeded in delivering Irimë.
